DIY Tips: How to Remove Sweat Stains



Sweat stains under the arms of a favorite t-shirt can be very unsightly and very difficult to remove, but you can save your clothing with these secrets. Give your clothes another chance in life with a few unconventional items found in most homes. Before starting with any method listed below, spot test the shirt to make sure the color will not be effected. If your shirt is a delicate fabric like silk or cashmere, please take them to be professionally cleaned instead.

Remove Sweat Stains

What household items can help you repair a sweat stained shirt at home?

Lemon Juice – Mix together equal parts of water and lemon juice and scrub the liquid on the sweat stains.





Salt – Create a saltwater solution with hot water and soak the affected area in the mix before washing the garment as directed.
White Vinegar – Apply the vinegar directly to the stain and rub it around before laundering.

Baking Soda – Create a paste with baking soda and water and rub it onto the stain. Allow it to stay there for several minutes before washing the shirt as directed.

Meat Tenderizer – Choose one with no extra seasonings that does contain bromelain. Get the t-shirt or other garment wet and sprinkle meat tenderizer onto the stains. Let it sit for up to 30 minutes before washing it out.
