What is the reason we become unhappy? There are many reasons, but above all else we become unhappy whenever we aren’t true to ourselves.

Put simply, being true to yourself means doing the things you love doing. But to know what it is that you love to do, you need to know yourself and what makes you tick.

The more we understand ourselves and our natures, the easier it is to do the things that will make us happy. Sounds simple right? Yet so many of us all too easily lose sight of our identity. Consequently, we grow deeply unhappy.

There are also a lot of variables involved when it comes to doing whatever makes us happy. Sometimes, we just cannot get up and do whatever we want to do. Sometimes, there are obstacles in the way.

There are, however, 10 effective ways in which you can boost your happiness right now. Let’s take a look at them.

Love Your Job

I always think of my favourite movie Planes, Trains and Automobiles whenever I think of people who love what they do for a living. In the film, John Candy’s character expresses my own approach to work: “Like your job – love your partner.”
Personally, I think it’s all the same if you love your job – as long as you love your partner even more!

As Steve Jobs pointed out, we spend most of our lives at work – at least half of it anyway. That’s a heck of a lot of time. And if you hate you job, it’s going to make you feel pretty lousy.

Getting yourself a job you love is not as hard as you might think. You first of all need to identify what kind of job you would love to do, before setting a series of goals that will help you to secure it.
