How many times have your friends told you to stop worrying about things and to just live in the moment?
Last year, I was told this a lot.
“You worry too much,” my friends would say to me.
“You plan too much,” was something else I heard a lot of.
They were right. While my friends were enjoying the moment and taking life as it came, I was stuck inside my head picturing future events. Like cinematic fast-forwards, I would transport myself to the future.
While living in the future can be a good thing sometimes, it also stops you from appreciating the present moment. You miss out on the beauty of a morning breeze or the smell of a daffodil in the summer. And these are the things that are so special about life.
A few months ago, I started practising mindfulness. And it changed my life. No longer do I live in the future; instead, I live in the moment and enjoy life as it comes.

It always looks really impressive whenever you see someone multitasking. It looks as though they’re winning at life. Perhaps there is a switched-on lady in your office who can take phone calls while inputting data and finishing off her lunch at the same time.
