7 Tips to Styling a Weave

DIY weaves are one of the easiest ways to save money being that a visit to the salon can be quite costly. You can have a fresh and sexy weave by doing it from the comfort of your own home. These are not the easiest thing in the world to do and you do not want to end up ruining your hair either. The following are tips and tricks that will assist you in getting the fresh salon weave look that you want without spending the extra cash.

1. Leave Segments Out

If you are performing your own sew in weave you are going to leave out the entire section of your hair that will be your part. This piece of your hair is going to be the section of hair that is on your hairline. These pieces are going to require some styling on your part but they make a weave look extremely natural. This is going to allow the hair around your face to grow easily. This will also mean that you do not have to worry about the edges thinning.

2. Braid Hair Vertically

If this is your first time actually experimenting with your personal weave and you know someone that can help you to braid your hair vertically, you will be able to create cornrows instead of circles.

You will then be able to pull the ends of your braids up, securing them in rows in order to create a clean and flat surface. You don’t have to do this perfectly. Allow these to curve a little bit when you get closer toward your neck. Avoid swirls and braids that curl as well.

3. Careful with the Tracks

When you begin to sew in your tracks it’s essential to think twice before you cut them. You will need to flip the track once you’ve finished sewing in the layer. Run your needle and thread through the base sometimes so that it can lay as flat as possible. You will then want to continue doing this.

4. Try Glue-Ins

If you don’t have a great deal of time to experiment with your hair and you are in need of a quick at home weave then you can try out glue ins. These are a lot easier to do at home and you will end up with really great hairstyles without needing the help of someone else. All that you need to do is pin up your hair, start on the layers, measure the tracks before you cut them and glue it between each layer.….READ MORE ON THE NEXT PAGE
