First impressions are very effective and play some important roles when you are meeting others for the first time. No matter what you’re meeting people for, or whom you’re meeting, having poise should be taken seriously. You should make the other person to be aware that you have the right skills for accomplishing and get things done. You should not forget that whatever first impression left by you will have a great influence, making it necessary to show off those white, shiny teeth, stand tall, and get yourself prepared for whatever comes your way!

1. Be Punctual Always
When you are meeting someone for the first time, you must not exercise rudeness and arriving late for a meeting is not going to leave a lasting impression. If you know the meeting with your girlfriend’s parents for dinner is at 6 p.m., do not arrive at her parent’s home at 6:15. Prepare for your meeting a few hours ahead of time if necessary so that you will not be late.

2. Build Up That Confidence
If you are someone who has a negative view of your appearance or abilities, you need to work on the confidence before you meet with the individual because most people have a hard time talking with those who lack confidence. Think about what your strengths are and how you can use those strengths to get along with the person you are meeting for the first time.
3. Research The Person You Are Meeting
If you are delivering a speech you should do research on the group you will deliver the speech to because this helps you tailor the speech in such a way that the audience will be impressed with it. For example, if you are delivering a speech to a local civil rights advocacy group for minorities, you would present a speech that is line with the group’s mission.
