3. Steamboat Springs Colorado
Colorado is chock full of resorts and many have really difficult terrain. Steamboat is one of the tallest ski mountains but has a great beginner area for kids and adults. For the more experienced skier you can head up to the black diamond slopes. Children under 12 ski free with the purchase of an adult ticket making it very affordable.
Park City was made famous by the Olympics but it has been around forever. Teaching children as young as two, there are a number of places to stay and you can take a dog-sled tour if you need a break from skiing. Be sure you check the schedule as things will be more expensive around the time of the Sundance Film Festival in January.
Not always noticed by many there are specialized “newbie” chair lifts for the beginner. It makes it much less stressful and a great way to introduce your kids to skiing. Live music, wagon rides and bonfire round out a fun filled winter experience.
