Bloodshot eyes can be caused by several things including not enough sleep, if you happen to drink a lot of alcohol and various illnesses. The veins upon the eyeball swell and turn red which is what causes bloodshot eyes. Bloodshot eyes are not always painful; just unsightly to look at. But, sometimes bloodshot eyes will be painful and make it difficult to see. Organic and home remedies for bloodshot eyes, or red eyes:
1. Sometimes your eyes may just be hot and swollen. Take an ice pack and put it on your eye for five minutes and then put it on the other eye for the same amount of time. This will help to reduce some of the pressure and swelling in the eyes. Try this twice a day, probably first thing in the morning and then before going to bed.
2. If your eyes are dry and itchy and you don’t want to use eye drops, you can use regular water to relieve your eyes. Sprinkle a couple of drops onto the eyeball itself to provide some moisture and soothing. This can be performed a few times a day as needed.
